Framing an Interview

There are a number of guidelines and rules of framing in interviews.
Facing direction- a big part of filming an interview is making sure the interviewee is not facing left or right as it appears that they are looking and talking to someone else.
Interview shots- mid shots and medium close ups are most commonly used when the interviewee is discussing something.
Rule of thirds- the basic principle behind the rule of thirds is breaking the image down into thirds so it has nine parts. With this in mind it identifies the four important parts of a frame. The rule of thirds helps the frame to be more balanced and enables the viewer to react more naturally
